Header is a wonderful warm terracotta tone. This colour works well in any room, from hallways to country kitchens and bedroom. It will flatter architectural features and antiques as well as warm up smaller cosy spaces.
We have a very popular colour called Brick, but in some rooms and in some aspects it’s a little too strong and so Edward created a colour that really has half the strength of Brick with a little bit more yellow ochre, just to give it a slightly orangey hue. The provenance of its name? Well as a brick can be used in two ways, length ways or end on, known as stretcher or header, the half a brick or the head is the name that we have given to this colour.

The thing I’ve always loved about Edward Bulmer Natural Paint is that it’s not just a flat finish, it has a real resonance to it. That’s especially true of Header, with its softness and warmth – you can almost feel the movement of light within it. It’s the perfect backdrop for our showroom, where it catches the changing light throughout the day.

Dear Emma and Amanda, You were both incredibly kind to me last year when I was renovating my cottage in Gloucestershire. Amanda you answered endless questions and even recommended our painter – and suggested lilac pink as a neutral. Emma you were very kind in sending over a long email with suggestions for colours for …
Malahide is a vibrant and warming colour. Paired with Jonquil it creates a bold but restful combination.
I just wanted to say what a pleasure it is using your material, especially the eggshell which is a lovely paint to work with.
A belated thank you for assisting me in choosing a colour for my drawing room. I am delighted with the colour (Jonquil 60%) and of course the paint itself which is so workable and a pleasure to use. The depth of the colour is glorious and my room comes across as so restful. What paint …
We redecorated our sitting room using Clove 60%, and we also rendered and painted the fire surround. We’re absolutely delighted with it, the finish is velvety and full of depth, exactly the result I wanted. We are doing the other rooms in September, but having a complete rethink on the kitchen, probably repainting the units …
We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.
Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.
