In his first book, our founder, architectural historian, eco ‘worrier’ and colourman Edward Bulmer takes readers on an in-depth tour of his work in some of Britain’s finest homes including Althorp, Goodwood, Pitshill House and Broughton Hall, along with his own stunning Queen Anne manor house, Court of Noke.
Edward Bulmer is part of a new generation of designers working on historical houses with an eye on designs that appeal to contemporary families and active lifestyles while at the same time respecting the classical traditions that have made the British country house style so popular today. With a modern eye, Bulmer combines his love for the well-worn and timeless, with natural textures as well as rich new color palettes and finishes, as embodied by his line of all-natural, toxic-free paints that embrace both traditional and eclectic tastes.

We have spent years perfecting our pioneering plant-based paints and we are proud of the product we have created using gentle chemistry and a lot of dedication to making a more sustainable paint! We believe we are pioneers in creating natural paints using plant-based ingredients instead of petrochemical derived products.
Unlike many other paint brands, what’s in our tins is on our tins! We declare all of our ingredients, read our full list of ingredients and learn more about how our paint is made.
We use our local courier service called APC which is based in Hereford. APC operates franchises throughout the country and we can deliver parcels throughout the UK on an overnight service.
We are not able to offer returns, as all of our paint is mixed to order and therefore is a bespoke product.
NB: We will accept returns of non bespoke products which include preparatory products.
If you believe your paint is faulty, please contact our team.
Invisible green is the colour of confidence, equally at ease in grand rooms and humble nests. It’s the perfect shade of calm and joy – and who doesn’t need that in their lives? My lovely decorators are always happy to see the tins appear, but I’m also an impulsive colour changer, especially in my children’s …
What an exquisite green – perfect!
Our decorator decided to use it just in case, so not sure if we really needed it or not. And after being worried he wasn’t keen on our non-Dulux choice, (he told me he has only used natural paint (Auro) four times in forty years) he said he thought it was great, went on well and lovely …
About to use this colour…can’t wait ! Children are going to help paint too as its safe and chemical free. Am expecting it to be messy though !
The first colour I knew I wanted to use was ‘Invisible Green’ by Edward Bulmer in the drawing room. I realised that I’ve never met a bright green room I don’t love, yet I rarely use the colour. This is the green of Babar’s coat – a shade that goes with so much, as it …
We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.
Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.
If you end up with any leftover paint, get inspired with ways to use any excess paint - it's even compostable!

This estimate is based on the dimensions of your room, minus the space taken by average doors and windows.

Our water based eggshell or gloss is ideal for woodwork or metalwork.
This estimate is based on skirting and the doors/windows you tell us about. 1 litre should cover 2-3 doors or 20m of skirting.
