Cuisse is the ultimate dusty pink with enough umber to avoid being too girly. Despite the name Cuisse is a firm favourite, feminine enough to peel back the masculine cloak that some houses take on, with a degree of sophistication and historical resonance which means it works in the kitchen as well as the bedroom! We borrowed the colour from the family rooms at Petworth where it had been chosen by Lord Egremont’s mother and it was she that gave it this risqué name which is also a rose in the garden!
Cuisse de Nymphe Emue is also available in three lighter shades, so 60%, 40% and 20% lighter which means you can find a place for Cuisse, the ultimate sustainable paint, anywhere in your house! Our plant-based recipe is centered around protecting the planets’ finite resources.
"Edward Bulmer Natural Paints are a go-to for us in our interiors projects and their likeminded attitude towards creating an environmentally friendly product made the collaboration an obvious fit. Cuisse de Nymphe Emue – there has been a real trend for pink interiors recently and despite there being a lot of pinks available, it is surprisingly difficult to find one which provides that hint of pink but is also manageable. This shade does just this and it is husband friendly!”

Such gorgeous paint to work with, it’s the first time I’ve used it and will be recommending it to all my clients now. It was a pleasure to apply and the opacity was fantastic!
First, the Drawing room. Huge success. Your tones are praised to the skies and the cheers are unanimous. The shades are uplifting and inspiring and the two affianced couples that have been around were happy at the “blank canvas” the walls gave them.
We have used your paints to redecorate two good Regency houses, one of them Trematon Castle, both of architectural interest, and found the range and subtlety of your colours not only historically appropriate but providing an uplifting background for furniture and pictures. They enhance the proportions of every room and give each a very special atmosphere in sunlight and in …
I’ve always had this mantra that you should live and work with what you love so as a designer I felt a real connection with Edward Bulmer’s transformative paints. We both see colour as a vital necessity – the essential raw ingredient. I’d fallen in love with Cuisse de Nymphe Emue – a pink that …
We have just had our kitchen painted with Mummy after it was recommended by one of your staff. I didn’t know if it would work with the sage coloured units but it’s worked so well. Your staff really know their paint colours! The decorators also said it was beautiful paint to work with, so thank …
We have created this calculator to help you estimate the amount of paint you will need for your project. Please note that this is only an estimate, based on normal surfaces with two coats of paint.
Please check our practical painting advice - if you are painting onto a very absorbent surface, you may need more paint, and for best results, you may need to prime your surfaces.
