The Llanfendigaid estate is located on one of the most breathtaking stretches of Welsh coastline nestled in the midst of Snowdonia National Park, known for its challenging climbs and stunning rural landscapes. The estate is made up of the main house and a cluster of holiday cottages.
‘The Cowshed’ is one of the oldest buildings on the Llanfendigaid Estate and the first to be brought back to life by Edward Bulmer Natural Paint. The transformation began with one of our popular in home colour consultancies; an example of seamlessly blending traditional elements that preserve its history with more modern-day comforts.
When our consultant Emma visited the estate it became apparent from the breathtaking scenery and rolling landscapes that a palette of greens would both bring the property to life and bring the beauty of the outside, firmly inside.
This transformation is a masterclass in choosing and using a lead colour group and carefully curating a palette of complementary and a couple of more contrasting colours, to create a home with flow in tonal harmony.

As with all our in-home & virtual consultancies, a detailed paint recommendation is provided with beautiful A5 swatches; these ‘decoration schedules’ work as the basis for the final selection for our customers. Our experts recommend wall, ceiling and woodwork trim colours as well as helping with an overall tonal mood board palette; sometimes it all starts with a piece of furniture, a favourite fabric, or some period flooring. Our client and the owner of the estate needed both some inspiration and direction.
As the open plan property is mainly used by family groups, whilst tonal flow was key, it was also important to create zones. Greens were the lead colour and by recommending a series of these hues throughout the rooms with accompanying warm greys, soft pinks and off whites a beautiful and timeless soft palette was created.
From the bold ‘Invisible Green’, to the softer ‘Evie’ moving towards ‘Granite Green’ and ‘Pomona’ against an almost off white with a hint of green ‘Water Glass’, ‘Rose Tinted White’, ‘Fine White’ and ‘Nicaragua’.
'Water Glass' Dining Room

Having recently taken over Llanfendigaid Estate and having multiple properties including the main house with 9 bedrooms to renovate I wanted to make sure that I got it right. We thought about using an interior designer but it felt too exciting to not do it myself, so a colour consultation was the right balance of getting expert guidance yet still having control of styling. It’s worked out completely.
